Ocean Spray, Doggface and the Joys of the Interwebs
Please, please just let the good vibes around this one live on. Don’t rain on our parade.
420doggface208 just got gifted a brand new truck and a literal trunkload of cranberry juice by the folks at Ocean Spray. It’s all that’s mind-blowing about today’s whacky world of social media. It also happens to be the latest in a damn good modern, social story. It’s nice to have one to smile about based on the purity of it all. Oh, and for folks who scoff at “news drafting” or “culture-jacking,” check this exhibit. I’m pretty sure this is going to turn out just fine for Ocean Spray (with a relatively paltry investment).
If you’re reading so far and have aren’t connecting the dots, here’s the super-quick rundown. About two weeks ago, a gentlemen in Idaho with the Instagram handle @doggface208 posted this video on TikTok. A longboard, a bottle of Ocean Spray and a 70s track did the rest.

The post went viral in the truest sense of the word. Checking in today, it’s been viewed 23M+ times on TikTok alone. Something about the vibe in these times and just…all of it. As IG commenter @lynzylab wrote: “I’ve legit watched this 20+ times. This is therapy.” She nails it. And it’s obviously a sentiment shared by millions.
Since its post, a few things have happened. All of which could only occur in the bizarro world we now inhabit. One of those things was Fleetwood Mac’s 1977 hit “Dreams” roaring back onto the charts 43 years later. Second, was Mick Fleetwood himself taking to TikTok with his shout-out to Nathan Apodaca.
Then, there were GoFund me donations, a break from his job at a potato factory to focus on commercial opportunities, even a merchandise line. Doggface now has an agent and is regularly dropping content. The man’s life has changed in the span of weeks after a few dozen seconds of video on TikTok. CRAY-CRAY.
Well, as of yesterday, you can add another fantastic chapter to the story. The folks at Ocean Spray’s PR and marketing department did what those folks should do. They jumped on the opportunity. And why not? A phenomenon that likely gets the brand in front of a new, younger audience. More fans on the flames for platforms like TikTok, IG and Twitter. And for what? A truck and a trunk full of Ocean Spray bottles? No. Brainer.
It’s always easier said than done, though. So congrats to those involved. Let’s keep this vibe going, team. 2020 needs it.
