Twitter Taps Twitter for Valentine's Day Push
Twitter can be a sad and melancholy place. It often seems a refuge created solely for folks jacked up on crazy over something to drop their cancel culture-inspired shade all over someone else. That said, it is also is home to some damn funny mofos.
It’s why I’ve loved Twitter’s past efforts to hype its platform and reassert relevance through the voice (and profile avatars) of its users. I’ve typically seen these campaigns come to life through big outdoor takeovers in the subways and at other commuter hubs. The beauty is that the Twitter posts are self-sustaining ads in terms of consistent and recognizable creative that’s eye-catching in its simplicity. How to build the ads? Well, here’s the tweet.
Now, Twitter is back for another campaign around Valentine’s Day, following a similar formula. Instead of sweet nothings and sappy romance, it keeps it real. Here’s a little sample:

Simple. Humorous. Straightforward. I dig it.
The brand also compiled some data and stats about the Twitter conversation when it comes to love, offering insight on everything from how “tweets about ghosting or being ghosted are up eight times since 2017,” to the fact that cuffing season “has seen related tweets rise every year out of the past four years during those months.” I only came across these tidbits in an ADWEEK article on the campaign. Seems there were opportunities to package it all together and drive some more earned and social media chatter. Maybe that’s to come?
For now, another good installment in the “Twitter-promoting-Twitter” series.
